Although Elizabeth Baker Smith moved to Oregon from Chicago when she was 5, and is not technically a native Oregonian, perhaps we can make an exception. Here’s why: "I love the rain. It’s beautiful, it makes everything shiny, it smells great, clouds are pretty, and the rain makes things grow."
but Elizabeth doesn’t just love the rain – she loves banking, and that’s why we love having Elizabeth as our Controller.
As the Bank’s Controller, Elizabeth is responsible for managing the Finance and Financial Reporting areas of the Bank. She also maintains procedures, policies and controls for the Finance Department. In addition, she handles all the reporting for the Credit Portfolio, including Credit Quality, Usage Metrics and other asset statistics. Elizabeth’s clients are internal employees and shareholders at The Commerce Bank of Oregon and Zions, as well as external auditors, regulators, vendors and stakeholders.
Elizabeth comes to The Commerce Bank of Oregon with a diverse background. After she received her undergraduate degree from Portland State University, Elizabeth traveled to the UK to study International Business Law. From there, she returned to Portland State to obtain her Accounting Degree.
Elizabeth loves to read, cook, and spend time with close friends and family. She and her husband, a chef (lucky), also enjoy visiting local wineries and discovering Portland’s new food carts and restaurants.
Our outstanding staff with their diverse background and skills extends the depth of our bankers' experience.
